An obviously valuable role of photography, is capturing temporal images -- images that won't be there in a few minutes or a few hours, or a few centuries.

love it, i once to an identical image as yours.
i also took photographs of footprints/shoe prints in sand, mud,
and paint.
capturing a moment / a memory in time to hold forever.
