DOJO

Dojo was the last band to play last Saturday at the "Music for the Masses" event at Burcham Park in Lawrence. It was a nice little party and $4 for several bands can't be beat. This is the only band that had decent enough light to allow me to get a legible picture. Dojo was a good little jazzy jam band, sounding at times like Pat Metheny. They also reminded me a bit of Al DiMeola's sound. We enjoyed Tri-Point Paradox too. It's a good thing they didn't have a bigger crowd since there was only one portapotty and one trash can.

I was walking by the Bourgesie Pig Friday afternoon, when I saw this guy's t-shirt and almost cracked up laughing, though I did catch myself. When I walked back I managed to snag a surreptitioussnapshot with my phonecam. He wore the shirt like he means it. Natch that was the best place for him to get a coffee and a smoke

Ya know, maybe it's just me -- maybe I'm a bit too cynical and judgemental. And I should also note that I am not a KU grad. But I would think that the class of '56 could do better than a statue of a magpie to give to their dear old alma mater. (just kidding hawkers, don't firebomb my house okay?)

Angular steps

I like the combo of angles and curves in this image. I like my wife too. There really is some nice architecture on KU's campus. I like how the buildings interact with each other close in. Others probably hate it and there were no other people there at the time. But we enjoyed our little photo expedition Saturday evening.

Love Mochas

I got a new Motorola Razr cell phone yesterday. This phone has a much better camera than the last one. I thought these mochas that my lovely wife Lucy made for us this morning would be a really good first contri to Flickr. I photoshopped this a bit. We'll see how it works when the pics come straight from phone to flickr.
